STILL UNSURE?

Choose the right headlamp for Cross-country skiing
When cross-country skiing, your headlamp needs to be light and comfortable. Unlike running, you can use a slightly larger battery since the movement is smoother. The right balance of brightness and burn time depends on where you ski, your speed, and how long your training session lasts.
Tips when choosing a headlamp for Cross-country skiing
BRIGHTNESS
1200 lumen is plenty for lit tracks and, for most skiers, also for dark forest trails. If you’re skate skiing or skiing downhill at higher speeds, 2000 lumen give you a confidence. For roller skiing, 1200 lumen is enough on lit roads, but on leaf-covered roads on dark autumn evenings, 2000 lumen is recommended for optimal visibility.
BURN TIME & WEIGHT
Pick a smaller, lighter battery (XS, S) for shorter sessions to avoid carrying unnecessary weight. For long sessions, use a larger battery (M), and bring a spare if you’re skiing long distances at night.
SAve battery
Cold weather reduces battery performance. Keep the battery warm in a pocket or in an insulated pouch placed in your hydration belt. This also takes weight off your head when double poling. Dim the light on climbs or easier sections to make it last longer.
Helmet mount for roller skiing
Add a Helmet Mount Kit to attach both the headlamp and the battery to your helmet.
