HEADLAMP GUIDE

Climbing & adventure

Choose the right headlamp for climbing & adventure

For mountaineering and expeditions, you need a durable headlamp that can handle tough conditions. It has to be reliable both on the climb and back at basecamp. In cold environments, long battery life is essential, and the lamp should be easy to operate even with gloves on.

Tips when choosing a headlamp for climbing & adventure

BRIGHTNESS

400–700 lumens is sufficient for most situations. At high altitude, in technical terrain, or during long nights at basecamp, 700 lumens or more can provide extra security.

BURN TIME & WEIGHT

Extended burn time is crucial on expeditions, especially in cold conditions. If you spend many hours outside, choose a larger battery with extended burn time. For multi-day adventures, go for a model with Silva Hybrid Technology. Then you can use alkaline batteries as a reliable backup, in addition to our rechargeable battery.

Durable and glove-friendly

Opt for a lamp with a large on/off button that’s easy to use with gloves. A red or orange light mode is useful for map reading and preserving night vision. A rugged, water-resistant design ensures reliability when the weather turns.
